Munich Tournament Results 2008

The scores are available are available to download via this PDF. Congratulations goes to the Ladies team from Belgium and the Mens Team from Luxembourg for taking their respective Championship titles and to Copenhagen Mens Team for winning their first Mens Shield title of 2008.

An overview of the day and more reports are due later in the week. If you have photographs from the day and you want to share them, please get in contact with us.

Visiting Teams Info

An information pack has been sent to all the clubs, but it is also available for download. It includes, location and directions to the pitches, details of the banquet, player registration disclaimer forms and team registration forms.

Tournament Info

The 7th annual Munich Gaelic football tournament will take place on July 26th, 2008 at our training grounds in SV Gartenstadt Trudering, Heinrich-Wieland Str 102, 81735 Munich.

We will have 5 teams taking part in the 1st round of the the men’s pan European tournament and 6 teams in the 4th round of the ladies football championship. The first round of the European men’s shield will have 4 teams competing for a place in the final. The days event will throw in at 9.30am and will end with the 3 finals, the first of which will begin at 4pm.

There will also be a pitch side bar to keep the thirst from the door, as well as a BBQ and a bouncy castle for the kids. Good weather as always is expected. A kids hurling exhibition will take place if numbers are sufficient.

The Munich Colmcilles look forward to another successful day showcasing the very best of our national games.

Limited Banquet places available

There is still a limited amount of space left at our post tournament banquet on Saturday 26th of July. This year it will be taking place at the Hofbräukeller at Weinerplatz (near Max Weber Platz U-Bahn station, see www.hofbraeukeller.de). If you would like to come along please get in contact with us and we will send you all the details. The meal starts at 8:30pm, and will be in the upstairs function room at the Hofbräukeller.

It promises to be a crazy night of good food/beer and fun. Info and directions

People often wonder just what happens at a GAA Training session, here are some pictures from a recent training session in June.

If you would like to join one of our training sessions, feel free to drop down. We train at the following times

  • Mondays @ 7pm
  • Wednesdays @ 7pm
  • Saturdays @ 11am

Simply bring down a pair of football boots if you have them, and some sports clothing and away you go. We have full changing /shower facilities at our training grounds.

Here are some pictures from the clubs outing to the GreenFarm festival. The festival, which is in it’s 2nd year, took place an organic farm north of Munich. The farm is in Hallbergmoos which about 25km from Munich in the direction of the airport.

Green Farm 2008

Green Farm appearance

This coming weekend, June 20th-22nd, is the annual Irish festival in Hauslerhof, in Hallbergmoos. It is a 3 day event with Irish bands, dancing, food, drink and sport. A guaranteed day of fun for all ages and interests.

The Munich Colmcilles will be taking part in this event on Sunday, 22nd of June at 2pm. We will have a football and hurling demonstation course for anyone interested in trying or seeing either sport.
